In March 2011 we visited the Fairview Estate in Paarl South Africa.

The Goat Tower The Fairview Vineyards Liz in the Barrel Store
Fairview is located on the lower slopes of Mt. Paarl. The Fairview vines were planted as early as 1699. The property was bought by the grandfather of current owner Charles Back in 1937. Fairview has a reputation for consistent quality across a range of innovative styles, using both classic and unusual varieties. The Fairview estate now has 350 hectares of vineyard over four appellations.

Charles Back, is also the man behind Goats do Roam, which was launched in 1999. Goats do Roam is rare in that it is an amusing and original proposition allied to wines of good quality and value for money. You can find Goats do Roam Red on the shelves for £7.99, or if you wish to go to the head of the herd 'The Goatfather' is an excellent blend of Italian grapes at £9.99
Fairview’s long-established goat herd also supplies milk for Fairview’s internationally award-winning cheeses. Dave trying some goats cheese!
